Reinheim is setting a strong signal for its economic future. Zukunftspark Reinheim marks the beginning of one of the most significant commercial development projects in the city's history. On an area of around 78,000 square metres, attractive prospects are emerging for innovative companies and high-quality jobs.
In the coming days a marketing website set up specifically for the Zukunftspark will also go online. It is aimed at investors and companies and presents the site's excellent conditions and the development possibilities of the area.
Starting point and land
The starting point for the project is the plot transferred to the city free of charge by Merz Pharma, for which the company thanks are due, and on which a new company building was originally planned. Planning permission already exists for around 40,000 square metres of that land. Through successfully concluded land negotiations, the city was able to create the conditions to extend the area by a further almost 38,000 square metres. The resolution to prepare the plan for the plots still to be acquired was also passed by the city council on 23 June 2026. This creates a contiguous commercial estate of almost eight hectares, prepared in planning law and secured in regional planning.
Reinheim therefore has excellent conditions that are, in this form, exceptional for cities of comparable size. They include:
- existing planning permission for around 40,000 square metres,
- a further 38,000 square metres for which planning permission is being created,
- an area designated as commercial land in the regional plan,
- a professional marketing strategy with a dedicated project platform.
Target sectors and marketing
Marketing is aimed above all at companies from the pharmaceutical, life sciences, medical technology and information technology sectors. This selection is based on a potential analysis carried out beforehand, whose results show that these sectors offer high development potential for the Reinheim location.
Initial discussions with potential investors are already proving promising. The potential analysis likewise confirms Reinheim's excellent locational qualities in terms of infrastructure, accessibility and economic development possibilities.
A complement to the Nord-West III commercial area
At the same time, the Zukunftspark complements the Nord-West III commercial area, which covers the expansion needs of local companies in particular. While that area provides land specifically for local business, the Zukunftspark offers room for larger business settlements of regional and supra-regional significance. Together the two projects form a sustainable strategy for strengthening Reinheim as a business location.
Four years ago the administration had already prepared, as a precaution, an alternative development perspective for the area. That strategic foresight makes it possible today to seize new development opportunities without loss of time and to shape Reinheim's economic future actively.
The Mayor's words
“With Zukunftspark Reinheim we are sending a clear signal: our city is shaping change actively and creating the conditions for sustainable growth. We are offering companies an outstandingly well prepared location with prospects for development, creating the basis for new jobs and strengthening our city's financial capacity for the long term. That our marketing platform is now going live as well is another important milestone. Reinheim is ready for the future – and we invite innovative companies to shape that future together with us.”
“The project stands for innovation, future security and active urban development that will radiate well beyond the city limits,” Mayor Manuel Feick concluded.
